Yes, you can pay someone to put your Christmas lights up, and that is exactly what we do. Chester County Christmas Lights handles Christmas light installation for houses across Chester County, the Main Line and the nearby towns of Delaware and Montgomery County. We plan the look with you, hang the lights, and come back after the holidays to take them down.
For a house, that usually means the roofline, the gutters, the front porch, the bushes along the walk and the big tree in the yard. You might want a clean single line of warm white along the eaves, or every window, column and shrub glowing. Either way, the outdoor lighting is planned around your house and how you want it to look from the street.
We supply the lights, so there is nothing for you to buy. When the holidays are over, we take everything down, so nobody in your house has to climb a ladder in January. Tell us about the house and we will send a free quote.

What a Christmas light installation service includes
Here is what comes with a seasonal install from us.
A design that fits the house
We start with what you want lit and what you want it to look like. That might be the whole front of the house, just the roofline, or a few trees and the walkway. Tell us about the property (a few photos help) and we will send a free quote for the look you want.
Hanging the lights
We hang the lights along the lines of the house you chose, then switch them on before we leave so you can see the result from the street.
Takedown and storage
Takedown and storage come with the install. After the season we come back and take the lights down. They are packed up and stored with us until next year, so your garage stays clear.
Our lights, for the season
Seasonal installs use our lights. You pay for the season and the lights stay ours, which has a few upsides.
Nothing to buy or store
You get the house lit without buying a full set of lights, and there are no boxes of tangled strands to keep in the basement.
A new look whenever you want
Warm white this year and multicolor next? Easy, because you are not tied to a set you own. It also suits you if you are not sure how long you will be in the house.
If you would rather the lights stay up all year, in any color, and switch on from your phone, have a look at permanent lighting. That is a different service from a seasonal install, and you can ask us about either one.
Christmas light installation cost: what changes the price
People often ask how much it costs to have lights put on a house, or how Christmas light installers charge. Every house is different, so the honest answer is that the price depends on the job. The quote is free, and these are the things that move it.
Length of the roofline
The longer the run of gutters, eaves and peaks, the more lights and the more time it takes. A simple ranch with one straight line is a smaller job than a house with many gables and dormers.
Height and number of stories
A one-story house is quicker and simpler to reach than a two- or three-story house. Steep pitches and tall peaks take more time and more care.
Trees, shrubs and extras
Each tree wrapped and each shrub covered adds to the job. So do wreaths, porch columns, railings and walkway lights.
Color choice and timers
Warm white, cool white, multicolor or a mix all change what goes on the house. A timer is optional. If you add one, so the lights come on and go off without anyone flipping a switch, that is part of the price as well.

How professionals install Christmas lights
The way lights go up makes a big difference to how they look and how the house fares afterwards. In general, this is how professional installers approach it.
Clips instead of nails and staples
Professionals hang lights with plastic clips that hold onto gutters, shingles and trim. Clips hold the lights without nails or staples, which is why installers use them on older trim. They also keep each bulb pointing the same way.
Strands sized to the house
Professional installers size each strand to the line of the house it covers. That is what gives a straight, even row with bulbs spaced the same all the way along, instead of a strand that runs short or doubles back.
Timers
A timer is an optional add-on that turns the display on and off at the times you choose. You do not have to remember to plug anything in, and the lights are not burning all night unless you want them to.
C9 bulbs, mini lights and colors
What Christmas lights do professionals use? For most rooflines the answer is C9 bulbs, the larger classic bulbs you see outlining houses. They are big enough to read clearly from the street. Smaller C7 bulbs are sometimes used for a finer line on trim or windows.
Mini lights are the small, closely spaced lights you see wrapped around tree trunks and spread over bushes. They give a soft, full glow up close, where a C9 would look too big.
Color is your call. Warm white gives the classic, cozy look a lot of stone and brick homes suit. Cool white reads brighter and crisper. Multicolor is the old-fashioned favorite for families with kids.
You can also mix them, with white on the roofline and color in the yard.
Lighting trees and shrubs
Trees and shrubs are where the yard really comes alive. Trunks and main branches can be wrapped tight with mini lights so the shape of the tree shows after dark. Bushes and hedges can be covered evenly so they glow as one shape. Tall trees take more lights and more reach, which is one reason the yard matters to the quote.
If you are lighting the house, you might also want a fresh tree inside. We offer Christmas tree delivery, and we can quote both together.
