Christmas Lights for Your Home
Our seasonal service covers the whole job: we put the lights up, keep them on through the holidays, then take them down and pack them away until next year. The lights are ours, so there is nothing for you to buy.
An old mill town on the Brandywine with a Christmas parade down its main street, and plenty of front porches worth lighting.
Before it was Downingtown it was Milltown, a string of mills along the East Branch of Brandywine Creek. The name changed to honor Thomas Downing, a Quaker who owned several of those mills, and the town grew up along the old Lancaster road that later became the Lincoln Highway. Today the borough still runs along Lancaster Avenue, with older homes on the streets either side of it and newer housing built on former industrial land.
We offer Christmas light installation in Downingtown for all of it: twins and older single homes close to the center, newer homes and townhomes, the businesses on Lancaster Avenue and the township neighborhoods around the borough that share the Downingtown name. If you would like the house lit and do not want to spend a cold Saturday on a ladder, give us a call or send the form for a free quote.
You choose the look, from a single row of warm white along the gutters to a full front of color with lit bushes and a wrapped tree by the walk. Warm white suits brick and stone; multicolor C9 bulbs give a porch an old-fashioned Christmas feel that reads from down the street.

Lancaster Avenue is the borough's main street and the route of its Christmas parade. Shops, restaurants and offices along it can be lit for the season, from the windows and doorway to the whole front of the building. Ask about takedown when you request your quote.
Hosting a holiday party, a fundraiser or a wedding? We set up string lights, bistro lights and lit trees or pathways for the event, then take them down afterward. Tell us about the space, the date and the feel you want, cozy and warm or bright and festive, and we will suggest a setup.
Skip the drive to the lot and the struggle of tying a tree to the car. We can have a fresh-cut Christmas tree brought to your door in Downingtown, and if we are lighting the house as well, the tree and the lights can be sorted in the same call.
Downingtown kicks off the season in Kerr Park, beside the old Log House on Lancaster Avenue. The Log House dates to around 1700 and stands at the park entrance, and the town Christmas tree that Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas sets up is lit right next to it, usually on a Saturday evening in late November, with Santa arriving on a fire truck.
A couple of weeks later, the Good Neighbor Christmas Parade heads down Lancaster Avenue, usually on a Saturday afternoon in mid-December. Roads through the borough close for it, and families line the street for floats, bands and Santa.
If your business is on the route, or your home is on one of the streets people walk to get there, those two weekends are when your lights get noticed most. If you want them up for both, ask about an install date before the tree lighting when you request your quote. Call as early as you can; earlier bookings have more install dates to choose from.
The park itself is worth a mention. Kerr Park is right on Lancaster Avenue, and on tree lighting night it fills with families. If you have ever stood there and thought your own front porch could use a bit of that glow, this is the year to do it.
Downingtown's center has some of its oldest buildings along East Lancaster Avenue, where a stretch of the street is a historic district. For older homes near the center, especially ones set close to the sidewalk with a front porch, a tidy line along the gutters and porch, with the porch posts wrapped, usually looks best.
Head out from the center and the housing changes. The newer homes and townhomes built on former mill and industrial land, and the subdivisions in the townships around the borough, often have wider fronts, garages and more landscaping. That is where lit shrubs, wrapped trees and C9 bulbs along every eave line really shine. A garage gable outlined in warm white, with the front beds lit below it, gives a newer house a finished look from the street.
Whichever kind of house you have, tell us what you picture and we will send a free quote. If you live in a townhome or planned community with rules on decorations, send your HOA guidelines with your quote request and the plan takes them into account.
Yes. We put up Christmas lights on homes and businesses in Downingtown Borough and the townships around it. We bring the lights, so you do not need to buy any. Whether it is a twin near the center or a bigger house out in the townships, the process is the same: tell us what you want lit and we send a free quote.
Yes, if you book early enough. The Downingtown tree lighting is usually on a Saturday in late November. Call as early as you can; earlier bookings have more install dates to choose from.
Yes, if you book early enough. Storefronts, windows, doorways and building fronts can be lit for the whole season. The Good Neighbor Christmas Parade usually runs down Lancaster Avenue in mid-December, so a business lit in November is lit for parade day too.
Professionals usually run C9 bulbs along the gutters and eaves and wrap mini lights around porch posts, railings and shrubs. Clips hold the lights without nails or staples, which is why installers use them on older trim. On a borough twin or an older single home near Lancaster Avenue, keeping the lines neat and the cords off the steps matters most.
The cost depends on the length of the lines being lit, the height of the house, how many trees and shrubs are included, the type and color of the lights and whether you want timers. Every house is different, so we give each one its own free quote.
Yes. We can have a fresh-cut Christmas tree brought to your door in Downingtown. Ask about it when you book your lights, or call us just for the tree. A real tree delivered to the door means no trip to the lot, no tying it to the car and no needles all over the back seat.
